Tree ends up leaning on house in Lindfield

THE STRONG winds that have battered the county this week left this house with a tree leaning against it.

Firefighters were called to the home in Denmans Close, Lindfield, yesterday (Thursday).

A tree surgeon was called out to deal with the 30 foot monkey puzzle tree.

The house’s electricity supply was isolated and the area cordoned off.

Other weather related incidents across the county included:

Bognor Regis, Southover Road : tree down on to parked car - branches cut away from tree by firefighters using electric saw to allow car to be freed - incident handed over to council road department for removal of tree.

Bognor Regis, High Street: large piece of building cladding flapping precariously in high winds - road closed by police - area cordoned off by firefighters - aluminium panel removed and a further panel resecured by contractor.

East Grinstead, London Road: part of roof dislodged by high winds and overhanging pathway - roof resecured by firefighters using ladders and lines.

Shoreham, Shirley Close: roof of plastic outhouse blown off in to garden - electricity supply to shed isolated by firefighters - roof 5mx3m made safe.

Shoreham, Queens Place: TV aerial on 10 foot pole on the side of house at first floor level swinging loose in strong winds - aerial made safe by firefighters.
