A woman has died following a collision in Pulborough this morning (Thursday August 16).

Emergency services were called to Lower Street, Pulborough, at the junction with the A29, just before 7.30am after a heavy goods vehicle and a local woman pedestrian believed to be in her 70s had been in collision.

Paramedics attended to the woman but she died at the scene a short while later.

The A29 is currently closed between Whiteways roundabout, which is north of Arundel, and Pulborough, and there are other local road closures in Pulborough itself, while the scene is examined, and drivers are being advised to avoid the area for the time being if possible.

Sergeant Stewart Goodwin, of the Sussex Roads Policing Unit said; “We hope to re-open the road as soon as possible this morning, but it is important to carry out a thorough investigation at the scene and we are grateful for drivers’ patience when faced with delays.

“We are also seeking witnesses to this tragic incident. Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact us via 101 quoting Operation Melrose.”
