UPDATE: Woman injured in A272 collision remains in critical condition

A 59-year-old woman from Waterlooville, Hampshire, remains in a critical condition following a three-vehicle crash on the A272 near Rogate, east of Petersfield, police have confirmed.

Police said it happened at around 10am on Thursday (March 9) on the county border with Hampshire, and involved a white Renault box van, a white Vauxhall Adam and a grey Peugeot 307.

The van, driven by a 28-year-old man from Burgess Hill, rolled onto its side. He and the Peugeot driver, a 45-year-old woman from Rogate, were both injured and were taken by ambulance to the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, a spokesman for Sussex Police said.

The Vauxhall driver, was flown by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

Inspector Stewart Goodwin, of the Sussex and Surrey roads policing unit, said: “The A272 was closed to traffic until 4.30pm while the incident was dealt with and the scene investigated. Thanks are due to motorists for their patience and understanding while the road was shut.”

“Anyone who saw what happened or noticed any of the vehicles involved being driven shortly before the collision is asked to get in touch, quoting Operation Thor.”
