Train services between Gatwick and East Croydon have been delayed following ‘urgent’ track repairs at Horley.

A Southern spokesman has warned trains could be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes after a southbound line was blocked.

Metrobus route 100 service has been accepting the operator’s rail tickets, the spokesman added.

Southern Railway’s website states: “Earlier safety checks have found three track defects in the Horley area. Trains were running at a reduced speed through the area, however it has now become necessary to reduce our train service while essential repair work is carried out.

“Network Rail, who own and maintain the track on which we run our trains are attending the reported track defects.

Southern ticket holders may use Metrobus route 100 between Three Bridges and Redhill, and London Underground services across London. Thameslink services will also accept Southern tickets, however they are also being affected by this incident.”
