STEYNING Bookshop, in the town’s High Street, is taking part in World Book Night this Saturday, March 5, when one million books are being given away throughout the country, representing the most ambitious and far-reaching celebration of adult books and reading ever attempted in the UK and Ireland.
Each bookseller will give away 48 copies of their chosen title on Saturday.
Steyning Bookshop is thrilled to have been chosen by an amazing 15 givers as the venue for picking up their books to distribute to the people of their choice. Owner Sarah Bowers said: “To mark this special occasion we are gathering these givers together on Saturday at 5.30pm, when they will collect their boxes of books from the shop, have a glass of wine and then set off on their book giving journeys to different venues.”
Sarah is a chosen ‘giver’ and will be receiving 48 copies of Dissolution, the first book in a Tudor mystery series by the renowned CJ Sansom. She will give them to people at a Rotary Club Race Night, a fundraiser for the Steyning First Responders, a charity to which she personally is very grateful.
