A thief stole a Poppy Appeal charity box on Remembrance Day.

The box was taken from the Premier Inn, Crawley, at 10.28am on Monday (November 11).

Appealing for witnesses to come forward, a spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A man went into the reception area of the hotel in Balcombe Road, where after looking around to see if he was alone, stole a Poppy Appeal charity donation box.

“He concealed the item in his jacket before leaving the reception area.”

The suspect is described as a white man, aged 18 to 25, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build and with short, dark cropped hair and black facial hair.

He was wearing a black winter Superdry jacket with a white logo on the right shoulder and grey tracksuit bottoms.

PC Mark Green said: “This is a despicable act committed on a day which holds such importance.”
