Fifteen Teaching Assistants, who have been studying at Collyer’s 4As Centre, have just successfully completed their level 2 or level 3 qualifications in the CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
Mel Hargreaves, Programme Manager of the 4As Centre at Collyer’s said: “These are fantastic courses which develop classroom skills through both classroom theory and observations and feedback in the workplace.”
The Teaching Assistant courses reflect Collyer’s high educational standards and include group and individual teaching. The majority of the level 2 students were not in paid employment at the start of their programme; however 50% of these students have subsequently gained paid employment, while others have interviews in the pipeline for September positions.
Kelly Senneck, who has just passed her level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning said: “Adult education with the Collyer’s 4As Centre has been a hugely positive experience and has given me more confidence. I now feel able and inspired to find new challenges and learn new things.”
Collyer’s Vice Principal Steve Nicholls said: “These talented students have all worked extremely hard and thoroughly deserve their success. Well done to them and big thanks to Collyer’s own Caroline Holder and Mel Hargreaves. They are a credit to us.”
Mel Hargreaves concluded: “We have already had 20 students signed up for the teaching assistant courses starting in September. Students can still book a place by ‘phoning us on 01403 216597 between Monday and Thursday.”
