An 18-month-old girl was voted the winner in a Crawley Observer competition to find the town’s cutest kid.

Emmy Sweet, from Northgate, scooped the title of Cute Kid 2013.

Her parents Mandy Wilkes, 40, and Danny Sweet, 34, were delighted.

Mandy said: “We really didn’t think she was going to win, it was all a bit tongue and cheek, we just did it for a bit of a laugh.”

Children and parents came in their hundreds to our free photo sessions at the County Mall in August.

Pictures were posted online and in the paper for readers to vote for who they thought should win the crown of cuteness.

Mandy and Danny have been reading the paper every week and were given a pleasant surprise when they found their daughter’s photo in the Top 10 two weeks ago.

Mandy said: “When she was in the Top 10 we were delighted, really pleased.”

The family of four, including Emmy’s three-year-old half sister Indiah Taylor, have won four tickets to see the Cinderella panto , courtesy of The Hawth.

Mandy added that Charlotte would be very thankful to Emmy for the prize.

She said: “Cinderella is her favourite thing in the whole world so she’ll be really happy about that.”
