A SHOREHAM College pupil has won a National Essay Writing Award.
Year-eight pupil Madeline O’Meara, pictured above, has attained national recognition in the ISA Annual Essay Writing competition.
In the Max Gate Intermediate Essay section, Madeline achieved a ‘highly commended’ award.
The competition is open to 12 to 13-year-olds from more than 300 schools in the Independent School Association (ISA), and receives hundreds of entries.
Madeline said: “My work was entitled ‘The Water Cycle’ and was about a girl who was terrified of going on a water ride at a theme park. She overcame her fears but with disastrous consequences. I spent a lot of hours working on this story and I’m now so happy that the hard work paid off.”
Shoreham College headmaster Jim Stearns said: “I am rightly proud of Madeline’s success – to gain a highly commended award in such a fiercely contested national competition is a great achievement. Well done, Madeline.”
