THE result of the Steyning poll was declared by the returning officer of Horsham District Council at 10.20pm last night.

The result was 816 yes (53.7 per cent), 703 no (46.3 per cent), one spoilt ballot paper.

He said after the vote was announced: “We are pleased with the result which was achieved against a background of misinformation.”
