Step back in time for charity

This year’s St Catherine’s Hospice Midnight Walk is going back to the 80s, so dig out your legwarmers and dust down your Walkman.

As part of the hospice’s 30th anniversary celebrations this year there is a new seven-mile route as well as the traditional half marathon.

Jen Wickham, events fundraiser at the hospice, said: “Haywards Heath was one of the first towns to establish a fundraising support group for the hospice at the start of the 1980s. Nowadays, thanks to the generosity of local people and companies, we are able to care for around 1,600 people a year from across Mid Sussex and East Surrey.

“Our Midnight Walk has helped raise over £700,000 towards this care and comfort in its first five years and we’re hoping our 30th anniversary event will be the best ever.”

Entry is £15 and includes a limited edition t-shirt, a welcome back breakfast, hot drinks and a medal.

The walk takes place in Horsham Park on Saturday, July 13.
