Standards ‘go up every year’ at art exhibition

HUNDREDS of people enjoyed Adur Art Club’s annual exhibition at the Shoreham Centre.

A fair number of purchases were made, as around 500 people enjoyed paintings on display from Friday to Sunday.

Sheena Henderson, one of the organisers, said the sales had been welcomed, but they weren’t the only purpose of the exhibition.

“The main aim is to exhibit because it makes you work very hard to do something worthwhile,” she explained. “The standard is going up each year.

“It is also good to see our work in a gallery setting.”

She said the exhibition had gone well and visitors had taken part in voting for the most popular painting.

The winner, who will receive the Ricky Hales Cup, will be announced alongside other exhibition winners at the club’s meeting today, the last before the summer break.
