Southwater-based Weight Watchers group combines weight loss and charity fundraising

Members of a Weight Watchers group have been doing their bit for charity while shedding the pounds.

Sharon Ashborn, leader of the group, based at Southwater Leisure Centre, said: “This amazing group have lost a staggering 585 lb/ 42 stone between them!

“This morning [September 22} we held a MacMillan coffee morning complete with weight watchers cakes all smart pointed. We managed to raise £50 from this event! We also have collected sufficient items to fill three boxes called Care Packs to go to Syrian families in crisis, this is supporting a charity called Samara’s Aid. Inside each banana box is essential items such as soap, toothbrushes, towels, blanket,deoderant, colouring books and pens and basic underwear. “I am astounded at my members’ kind hearts and generosity!”
