IT could be sunshine all the way for Beeding and Bramber Horticultural Society.
Following the recent good summer weather, society members are hoping for increased entries in their summer show.
The show takes place on Saturday, August 24, in Beeding and Bramber Village Hall, High Street, Upper Beeding. The entry fee for visitors is 75p.
Pat Nightingale, publicity officer, said: “With numerous categories for fruit, vegetables, flowers, photography, cookery, floral art and handicrafts, there is something for everybody, adults and children, to enter.”
All the details and entry forms are in the show book, available by ringing 01903 813023 or 01903 812847.
Entry forms need to be in by Wednesday, August 21. It costs 25p per category for adults and it is free for children.
The show opens to the public from 2pm to 4pm, and a produce stall, refreshments and a raffle will also be available.
Cups will be presented to the winners at about 3.30pm.
The society’s membership of about 180 comes from Upper Beeding, Bramber and Small Dole, as well as other nearby towns and villages. There are two shows a year, in spring and late summer.
Pat said: “A few years ago, with fewer people growing their own produce, making their own jam, knitting, sewing, or even baking a cake, the number of entries to the shows declined.
“But now the trend has been reversed. The spring and summer shows are still popular events and attract many visitors.”
