'˜Snowdrops' pay visit to trust office

The idea for the visit, which took place on Friday, September 23, was the similarity in names - the charity, having ‘snowdrop’ in its name, and all RAF Police were known in the services as ‘Snowdrops’, due to the white tops of their hats.

This developed into making this charity one of the branch’s annual donations. Each year the South Downs branch select a number of charities to support and this year five were chosen, one of them being the trust.

The association members who attended were Dave Hilton, Tony Harbour, Archie Heath and Jim Spiers. They were welcomed by Diana Levantine, chairman and co-founder, Elizabeth Stuart, office manager, and Claire Stubbs, office administrator.

The charity manager, Ashley Kuchanny, could not attend.

A cheque for £200 was handed over together with an RAFPolice white topped cap, and the RAFPA members received very appropriate snowdrop badges.

It is hoped that the two groups will get together in the future for further fund raising.

The Sussex Snowdrop Trust helps local families cope with the day to day problems of caring for a child, diagnosed with a life threatening or terminal illness.

The RAF Police Association brings together men and women who have served in the RAF Police, be it as national service or as a regular.
