SHOREHAM is on flood alert after a warning was issued by the Environment Agency.
Tidal areas of Shoreham Harbour, including Shoreham Airport, Shoreham High Street and areas of Riverside Road are at risk from midday.
The agency said: “The tide level at Shoreham is forecast to be be close to the tops of the walls around town, and high up the slipways.
“Small amounts of flooding is expected to affect localised areas of Shoreham, including Sussex Yacht Club.
“Houseboats along the Riverbank may also be affected by the higher than normal tide.”
The predicted astronomical tide level is 3.5 mAOD, forecast surge height 0.05 m and forecast high water level 3.55 mAOD, with winds expected to be westerly, Force 3.
The agency added: “This flood alert is being issued for the high tide at noon, Friday, February 20. However, tides will remain high and sometimes of higher magnitude until Monday.”
