Shoreham bench picked for Bags of Help scheme

She said: “I couldn’t tell you before today but I put in for funding from Tesco Bags of Help for money towards the seat for the village green in Williams Road, Shoreham.

“Three groups were picked and are going to the public vote from today for the month of December. Depending on votes, the first group will win £5,000, the second £2,000 and the third £1,000, so we are guaranteed at least £1000.

“Now it is down to all of you to promote this to all your friends and on social media. They will have to vote in Tesco and make sure they vote for the right group.

“You never know, we could make it to the £2,000 and end up with two seats, so, good luck. The total raised so far is £700.”

The money is raised from the 5p bag charge in Tesco stores in England, Wales and Scotland. Shoppers are given a token with every transaction and encouraged to vote for the project they would like to see receive funding.
