Wednesday 3rd December saw the latest meeting of ‘Teachmeet’- a networking opportunity for schools where teachers present ideas to each other that have impact in the classroom.
This meeting was run as a joint venture between Forest and Millais schools and was attended by teachers from many other local schools.
Presentations during the meeting ranged from 3 to 7 minutes and the content was focused on providing ideas that have been shown to work in the classroom. Teachers also get the chance to network and there is a prize draw from locally donated companies. Woodlands Estate Agents kindly donated a Kindle Fire on this occasion and our thanks go out to them.
Each meeting has a keynote speaker and on this occasion we were delighted to have Jenny Smith the Headteacher from Frederik Bremer, the school in the recent television series ‘Educating the East End’. Jenny delivered an outstanding speech on driving improvements within school.
After the meeting Jenny said “I was delighted to speak and have taken back some key notes from the other speakers’ presentations. Events like these are fantastic and give teachers the chance to pick up some new ideas”.
Our next event to be held on February 11th 2015 is ‘LeadMeet’-a networking opportunity for senior teachers. We would be delighted to hear from any companies who wish to put themselves forward to sponsor this event and any of our future ‘Teachmeet’ or ’Leadmeet’ sessions in the future.
