Sussex Bangladeshi Caterers Association raised money for the Worthing mayor’s charities at a gala dinner and awards ceremony.

The event was held at the Assembly Rooms in Worthing and during the evening there was a raffle, with all proceeds going to Worthing mayor Sean McDonald’s charity fund for Worthing Samaritans, Coastal West Sussex Mind and St Barnabas House hospice.

Members of the association visited the Mayor’s Parlour to hand over a cheque for £560.

Mr McDonald said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive this generous gift from friends in the Bangladeshi association who are integral members of our community.

“It was fantastic to meet these gentlemen and accept this cheque on behalf of my charities. I would like to express my thanks to all those who donated to this event.”

The mayor was joined by his friend Mrs Val Henwood at both the dinner and the cheque presentation.
