Families gathered at the Jubilee Centre in Southfields Road, Littlehampton, for the autumn Big Bright Walk In event.

Participants met on Thursday, October 13, at 8pm, to take part in the walk, which aims to promote road safety during the autumn term.

Pupils from River Beach Primary School were among those taking part.

Dressed to be seen as the mornings close in, a group of around 50 parents and children walked en masse to River Beach Primary School, waving banners to show everyone’s support for travelling by foot.

Arriving at school, children received a cereal bar.

They were also presented with a certificate, which they were given in front of their classmates at assembly.

Mrs Bingham, travel plan coordinator, said: “Along with monthly walk to school badges, we try to keep the profile of sustainable transport high on our school agenda.

“There are at present a high proportion of walkers, those who scoot and cyclists which is fantastic.”

The school is set to welcome Mrs Pene Mather, West Sussex Schools travel advisor, to lead assemblies with a focus on ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ when out and about.
