It’s that time of year again at Ashurst CE Aided Primary School. The children and staff are busy putting the finishing touches to their annual Christmas play.
This is a major event on the Ashurst School calendar. This year’s production is Robin Hood.
Every child in the school is involved in the play with the Years 5 and 6 taking on the major roles.
The part of Robin is played by Beatrice Bambury-Brenner, Nathaniel Jesse is the evil sheriff and Flynn Cresswell a very mean Guy of Gisbourne. Olivia Mackay plays the sweet and gentle Maid Marion, Olivia Chapman is Much, Samuel Newman Little John, Cameron Young Alan a Dale and Ava Goldsmith Friar Tuck.
Even the reception pupils are involved in the production and play the part of trees in the forest, with Year 1 and 2 pupils playing villagers. Many lively songs accompany the pantomime.
Headteacher Mrs Williams directs the production, with Mrs Smith designing costumes, Mrs Harwell providing the musical accompaniment, Mrs Robins the props and all staff being involved from backstage to front of house.
There are two matinee and two evening performances of the pantomime. The first performance was on Friday November 27 with further performances throughout the week.
