Churchwarden Tony Harris was devastated by the theft.

“The Armistice Day service has taken place in our church for 85 years,” said Tony.

“We had around 400 people in the church for the 3pm service on Sunday.

“The poppy box was full.

“We are not sure exactly when it went missing - I noticed the money box was missing on Tuesday.

“We have now started a recompense collection for the Royal British Legion.”
