ADVICE on how to keep fit for the New Year is being offered by West Sussex libraries.

Branches at Horsham, Worthing and Chichester are holding free drop-in sessions with experts and books on how to keep fit.

It is part of the County Council’s ‘New Year, New You’ scheme offering people in the area guidance on living a healthy lifestyle – including tips on quitting smoking.

The sessions will take place on Saturday, January 21, at Horsham Library from 10am to 4pm and Worthing Library from 11am to 3pm.

There is also information and support for mental health sufferers and their carers from the Richmond Fellowship charity and brain injury specialists Head Forward.

The service will then move to Chichester Library on Saturday, January 28, between 10am and 3pm. Health and fitness books are also available in other branches across the county.

West Sussex County Council Deputy Leader, Lionel Barnard, who oversees the Library Service, said: “These drop-in sessions and the great range of health and fitness books are perfect for anyone looking for a positive start to 2012.

“They also provide vital information for people who either suffer from or know someone with mental or physical health concerns.”
