Police are investigating after a girl was followed home by a man from a Tilgate primary school.
Sussex Police said a 10-year-old girl was walking home from The Oaks Primary School along Garrick Walk on Tuesday afternoon (November 5) when a man came out of the church car park and called to her.
She believed he followed her the rest of the way home. He did not try to speak to her again.
She told her mother what had happened when she got home and police were called.
Officers searched the area but could not find anyone matching the girl’s description of the man. He was wearing a grey hooded top and had brown hair.
Inspector Zahid Khan said: “The girl did the right thing by telling her mum what happened, so we could send officers out as soon as possible.
“This is an isolated incident in Crawley and we have no reports recently of this happening. Our schools officer has spoken to the school to give them reassurance that we are investigating and the neighbourhood police team are aware and will be stepping up patrols in the area.
“If you do have any information or have seen anything suspicious in the area, please call police on 101 or email email@example.com quoting serial 1023 of 5/11.”
