Holy Innocents Playgroup in Southwater finished the term with their traditional ‘beach party’ recently.
The children began with a lunch of fish, chips and mushy peas with plenty of tomato ketchup, and then moved on to exciting activities as everyone needed to cool down, as for once the day was a scorcher.
The huge paddling pool was nice and warm and all the children and staff joined in with plenty of laughter and shrieking as everyone played in the water, all the children soaked the staff in the annual water fight!
There were also sand activities such as castle building and jewel treasure hunts and bubbles to enjoy; and everyone ‘bought’ and ice lolly from the HIPG ice lolly ‘shop’.
The children and staff agreed it was the best beach party ever.
The afternoon ended with a presentation of a book and a cake pop to the 21 children leaving to go on to ‘big’ school.
Children and staff also presented gifts earlier on in the day to staff members Mrs Hazel Barnard who was leaving HIPG to retire and Mrs Sharon Dodd, Deputy Manager who was moving on to pastures new.
