Patients say hospital to be recommended

MOST patients at Worthing Hospital say they would recommend its services to others.

Out of 1,861 people surveyed by Western Sussex NHS Foundation Trust between April and June this year, only 65 people said they were unlikely to speak highly of the trust to their family and friends.

Both inpatients and A&E patients at Worthing and St Richard’s hospitals rated the services under a new government initiative.

Cathy Stone, director of nursing and patient safety, said: “The biggest challenge for hospitals at the moment is to get the fundamentals right, at a time when staff are under great pressure.

“These figures suggest that the vast majority of our patients feel that they are getting good treatment and compassionate care, in a good environment.”
