THE prince and princess for this year’s Broadwater Carnival were announced at a disco for children from Thomas A’Becket and Downsbrook Middle Schools.

Eloise Hawkins and Zac Ball, both aged nine, of Thomas A Becket school, were chosen by a panel of three judges for the roles, at Broadwater Working Mens Club, Broadwater Street, on June 28.

Eloise said: “It is my dream to be a carnival Princess. The next day I kept saying ‘I can not believe it, I have won’.”

Her mum, Mandy Hawkins, 44, of Terringes Avenue, Worthing, added: “It was an emotional but happy moment and we are all over the moon.”

Zac’s mum, Yvette Ball, 41, of St Andrew’s Road, Worthing said: “I’m just really proud of him.”
