A NEW paddle boarding concession is starting on Shoreham Beach.

Whatsup will be launching stand-up paddle boarding rentals on Saturday, near the Ferry Road entrance.

Jamie Benton said: “SUP, or stand-up paddle boarding, is the world’s fastest-growing water sport. Its fun, fantastic exercise for the whole body and so easy to learn, you’ll be up and paddling within a few minutes.

“As good surf is few and far between on our Sussex coastline, SUP has become an increasingly popular way of getting on the water instead of traditional surfing.

“The boards are light weight but incredibly bouyant and stable, the rider stands and moves through the water using a long paddle.”

The aim is to rent the boards by the hour, when the weather is fair.

Mr Benton added: “We hope it will get more people into paddle boarding and sport in general over the summer.

“We hope to bring a bit of fun to all and recreation on Shoreham Beach for those long days on the sun.”

Coaching is not provided but Mr Benton said it was pretty easy to learn.
