New WEA courses focus on art, music and society

THREE new 10-week courses are on offer from the Steyning branch of the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA).

Bookings can be made before Christmas and the courses begin in January.

Art and Society in 18th Century Britain considers the art world in the context of the cultural, social and intellectual developments taking place at the time.

It will cover painting, printed material, decorative arts, architecture and gardens.

The course starts on Thursday, January 16, 2.30pm to 4.30pm, at the Catholic Church Room, Penlands Way, Bramber Road, Steyning.

Britain Between the Wars offers learners a comprehensive picture of the political, economic and social changes in Britain and its role in world affairs during the critical interval between the two world wars.

The course starts on Tuesday, January 14, 10.30am to 12.30pm, at the Catholic Church Room.

Music of the Two Americas aims to give a picture of the rich and varied musical life in the USA and Latin America.

The course starts on Wednesday, January 8, 2pm to 4pm, in the Jarvis Music Room, Jarvis Lane, Steyning.
