The town’s newest Reverend said she hopes to help the Church make itself “relevant” to the people of Crawley.

The Rev Ann Alexander was appointed team vicar in the Parish of Ifeld and will primarily minister to the pastoral needs of the communities in Gossops Green and Bewbush.

She will take up her new position when she is licensed by the Bishop of Horsham on Wednesday (July 17).

Rev Alexander studied theology at Ripon College Cuddesdon and was ordained deacon in the Church of England in June 2009.

She served as associate priest of St Nicholas, Chiswick, and was a chaplain at St Paul’s Cathedral.

She said: “Taking on this new role with the communities of Gossops Green and Bewbush is a real opportunity to build on my previous work so that the church can reach out and make itself relevant to everyone.”

The Reverend will be licensed in a service at St Alban’s Church, Gossops Green, at 7.30pm.
