A residents’ parking scheme in roads surrounding Billingshurst Railway Station is set to be introduced by West Sussex County Council in November.
It is designed to prevent all day on-street commuter parking in various roads, making it easier for residents and visitors to park.
The new scheme will be enforced and administered by Horsham District Council and will operate using a combination of permit parking and free limited waiting, allowing people to use the local shops and facilities.
Some pay and display bays will also be provided directly adjacent to the railway station, so that all-day parking can take place if need be.
The roads affected are: Brookers Road, Brookfield Way, Chestnut Road, Daux Avenue, Daux Road, Daux Way, Lower Station Road, Myrtle Lane, Rosier Way, Station Road and Woodlands Way.
The scheme will operate from Monday to Friday (inc Bank Holidays) from 10-11am and 2-3pm.
In roads where limited waiting and pay and display have been provided, the hours of operation are 8am-6pm.
The charges will be as follows:
• 1st resident Permit £20.00 per annum;
• Subsequent resident permit £40.00 per annum;
• 2 hour residents visitors permit £0.35 each;
• Dispensation notice £2.00 a day/£10.00 a week; and
• Pay and Display (Daux Road) 8am- 6pm Monday to Friday £0.50 per hour (£5 per day).
The new scheme is set to go live at the beginning of November and will be monitored for approximately six months with further changes considered in other areas if appropriate.
