A YOUNG boy who is hoping to raise enough money for a life-changing operation helped open a new store in Bognor today.

Seven-year-old Toby Booker was one of a number of special guests who opened new variety store B&M on Friday, October 9.

Toby has cerebral palsy and is currently raising money for a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) which will help improve his muscle stiffness.

Toby was nominated to cut the ribbon by the store colleagues themselves and will receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a gesture of thanks.

He was joined by the Mayor of Bognor, councillor Jeanette Warr and the chairman of the Bersted Parish Council, Brian Knight, at the grand opening of the new store at Oldlands Way in the Southern Cross Industrial Estate, just off the A29.

Ian Rawlings, store manager at B&M Bognor Regis said: “Thank you to everyone who joined us for our grand opening.

“It was a huge honour to bring 65 new jobs to the area as well as being able to support Toby Booker.”

The new store is second of two B&M openings on the South Coast of England this month with a further store also opened in Portsmouth last week, creating another 100 jobs.

Customers can expect a wide variety of branded and own label products including groceries and toiletries as well as an extensive non-food section including toys, home, electrical and seasonal ranges.

Mr Rawlings added: “B&M is committed to recruiting from the local area and I am delighted we’ve found a great team from in and around Bognor Regis.

“We’re really proud to be creating 65 jobs across the town this year and playing our part in the local community.”

This home store sells a wide variety of items from including furniture and electrical items and is now open to the public.
