A CHARITY which received a bible filled with personal documents including marriage, birth and death certificates is trying to reunite it with its owner.

The black bible contains documents associated with a family from the north-east of England and dates back more than 120 years.

Wendy Sims and Pat Giles, volunteers for Worthing Scope, in Rectory Road, Worthing, were on duty when the book was found lying on a shelf.

Pat said: “I’m not aware of ever receiving a family bible before. When I looked at it I realised it was important to somebody, we couldn’t throw it in the rubbish.”
