‘Deeply disapointing’, that is how MP Nick Gibb has described the Post Office’s proposed move.

He said: “It is deeply disappointing that Post Office Limited intend to close the Crown Post Office in Bognor Regis and tuck the post office counter into the premises of WH Smith.

“Public opinion has been overwhelmingly opposed to such a decision and I believe strongly that, as a publicly owned corporation, Post Office Limited should have listened to those views.”

He added: “In a town such ‎as Bognor Regis, which is heavily dependent on tourist income, moving the established and publicly visible post office into WH Smith’s will hinder not help visitors to the town to find and use postal services during their stay.”

The MPs comments follow the public forum, held yesterday (August 11) at Regis Centre. Public consultation on the proposals runs until September 14 and customers can take part by phone, on-line or by post.
