SOUTHWICK Green is set to have its own ‘flock of sheep’.

The wooden additions will be part of the new play area, with work expected to start at the end of January.

The Southwick Green Community Team announced this week that the winning design went to playground equipment company Kompan, following consultation with the community and Glebe Primary School children.

Fiona Dunn and Melanie Prior, who led the campaign, said: “We now have a start date of January 26, with an estimate of six weeks’ work, weather depending.

“We also are able to have a very small extension to the west of the current play park, so we can include a grassy area with picnic benches and sensory planting.

“Our table top sale raised almost £500 and that with other community donations, including from The Stanley Arms and Deep Green Landscaping Company, means that we are able to buy two Southdown hand-carved sheep seats as a mini Southwick Green flock to be included in this area.”
