ONE of Shoreham’s most prestigious buildings will be catching the eye following a makeover.
The offices of solicitors Fitzhugh Gates, in High Street, has been painted in primrose yellow and a bold peacock blue.
The colours were chosen to highlight the landmark position, overlooking the River Adur at the east end of the street.
Hugo Hunt, partner at the firm, said: “On deciding to freshen up the building, we specifically chose paint colours that would enhance the building’s period look and draw attention to its positioning.”
Built in 1706, the building has an extensive history, including as a council treasury office, post office, photographer’s studio and restaurant, as well as for smuggling, if rumours are true.
