A LAUNCH party is being held at The White Horse Smokehouse and Grill in Steyning tomorrow (Friday, April 26).
The High Street hostelry, which closed in January after going into liquidation, now has a new team at the helm.
Business partners Craig Gillett and Kevin Boyd have taken on the tenancy from Greene King.
They say they hope they have created somewhere to give people an excellent night out with quality food and a great atmosphere, having listened to what people want.
Craig said: “We have really tried to listen to what the people in Steyning want and they didn’t want a pizzeria in a pub. There has been a lot of interest from people walking by, which has been good.”
The pub has been refurbished with all floors sanded, chairs upholstered and a smoking oven has been installed in the kitchen which will produce platters of pulled pork and brisket of beef as well as hot smoked salmon for a summer salad.
Craig and Kevin have worked together previously at The Fountain Inn.
Craig added: “We know the local area and we’re going to try and source as much food as possible locally, for example we’ll be using Sussex sausages that won an award at the Ardingly show.”
David Barling, chairman of Steyning Parish Council, said: “Lots of people have been walking past the pub and there’s been a great deal of interest from local people about what’s going on in there. We want to encourage local employment and the parish council is delighted at this chain of events that will provide a significant amount of local employment again.”
The pub is looking to take on 35 local people and anyone interested in a job should visit www.whitehorsesteyning.co.uk or email email@example.com
