BURGLARS stabbed a frightened Lancing man in the chest during a terrifying raid on the victim’s home yesterday evening (May 21).

At about 10pm on Thursday a gang of teenagers entered a home in Warren Court and attacked the resident.

The attackers stole the man’s mobile phone and fled.

The 43-year-old victim had suffered a stab wound to the chest and cuts to his face and was flown to Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment. He is currently in a serious but stable condition.

Officers are currently in the area speaking to potential witnesses and gathering evidence.

Detective Sergeant Chris Leech said: “The victim suffered a nasty wound to the chest that could have caused him life-threatening injuries.

“Thankfully the weapon appears to have missed all of his major organs but it might not have done.

“We need to speak to anyone who was in Warren Court on Thursday night and saw a group of teenagers acting suspiciously or running away from the road at some point around 10pm.

“If you saw or heard anything at all, please contact us.”

Two 16-year-old boys from Lancing have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

Both are currently in custody being questioned.
