SHOREHAM inshore lifeboat was diverted from exercise to help an injured woman on board a broken down vessel.

The 17ft boat had suffered power failure one mile south east of the lifeboat station, on Kingston Beach, when the crew was called out at 4.20pm on Saturday.

The woman had caught a large fishing hook through her thumb. The vessel was towed to Sussex Yacht Club and she was taken to hospital.
