The winners of two categories of Horsham in Bloom competition have been rewarded with garden centre vouchers from Hillier Horsham.

Hillier Horsham, on Brighton Road, has sponsored two categories of the Horsham in Bloom competition this year – Best Neighbourhood Garden and Best Hanging Basket or Container.

Over 20 gardens were judges in this section including Hillier Horsham’s manager, Terry Clarke. He said: “The theme was the centenary of WW1 and many residents put a huge amount of effort into it with family memorabilia, personal photographs, gas masks and even some uniform.

“There was a real reflection of nostalgia and history which I found very captivating.”

The panel of judges were looking for; good horticultural practice (an absence of pests and diseases, a balance of perennial and sustainable planting with no litter), good planning and maintenance, bold displays of colour, a balance in harmony with local conditions and a reference to this year’s theme.
