This is one of two sites Crawley Borough Council has proposed should be a permanent gyspy and traveller site for ten pitches.

The field in Langley Walk opposite Mulberry Road is currently used as a paddock and grazing area for horses on a lease from the council and being on the edge of Langley Green has attracted anger from residents.

Those nearby say the field floods and the noise level mean it would not be suitable for mobile or static caravan living.

Others say the services such as schools are already oversubscribed and further strain on the system would not be feasible.

The proposals are part of the council’s local plan called Crawley 2029 out for public consultation at the moment.

The council must provide permanent areas for gypsies and travellers to live, but is this the right area?
