The Rev Natasha Emin was presented with the Volunteer of the Year trophy in recognition of her compassionate approach and the time she dedicates to helping residents at Kingsland House Care Home, in Kingsland Close.

Natasha was one of five regional winners in the category and was named the national winner at a ceremony in Manchester earlier this month.

She said: “This is a joint effort and I’m thrilled to win. But really, I don’t do this for winning, I do this because I love Kingsland House and its residents.”

Natasha was nominated for the religious services she delivers at Kingsland House, which are enjoyed by staff and residents alike, and for always stopping by and making people laugh with her ‘one liners’.

She also raises lots of money for the home and even abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to fund a new home cinema at Kingsland House.

The home also celebrated the success of activities co-ordinator Eileen Garbutt, who received a regional award.

Marion Conway, general manager, said: “Well done to Natasha and Eileen, who both thoroughly deserve these accolades.

“We were all delighted to hear that Natasha won the top award in her category. The residents love her and her dog Raj, who also comes along to all her church services.”
