Crawley residents are being offered the opportunity to have a free health check in a series of sessions this summer.
Health advisors from the Northern Prevention Assessment Team are offering health checks which focus on preventing major causes of illness, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
These conditions are often avoidable and can be easily managed, and a health check could help to identify any potential issues before a problem develops.
The health checks take place at:
Crawley Baptist Church, Crabtree Road, West Green, Crawley, RH11 7HJ, on Tuesday June 4 2013, Tuesday July 2 2013 and Tuesday August 6 2013, from 1pm to 3.15pm.
Crawley Town Hall, The Boulevard, Crawley, RH10 1UZ, on Friday June 28 2013, Thursday July 25 2013, and Thursday August 22 2013, from 10am to 12 noon and from 1.15pm to 2.15pm.
Bewbush Children and Family Centre, Dorsten Square, Crawley, RH11 8XW, on Monday June 10 2013, Monday July 8 2013 and Monday August 12 2013, from 1pm to 3.45pm.
West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing Christine Field said: “These health checks are completely free and are there to help identify any possible health problems early, which can make a real difference in years to come.
“For all those eligible, I would strongly recommend that you book an appointment now.”
An appointment lasts for half an hour and includes a blood pressure check, a cholesterol test, and a discussion about family history, and assessment of lifestyle factors (such as smoking) and levels of physical activity.
The checks aim to help people make lifestyle choices to improve their health for the future. They are confidential and must be booked in advance. They are available for anyone aged between 40 and 74-years-old without an existing long-term condition.
To book your free health check please phone the Crawley Wellbeing Hub on 01293 585317.
