Health website puts county in the top 25

A new website comparing early deaths across the country shows the main causes in West Sussex were heart disease and stroke, cancer, lung disease and liver disease.

The ‘Longer Lives’ website launched by Public Heath England shows that from 2009 to 2011 the county was ranked 23 out of 150 local authority areas. Rates of liver disease have increased over the last decade and admissions to hospital for alcohol abuse, which is one of the three main causes of liver disease, continues to rise.
