SHOREHAM College raised £400 for charity with a fundraising Golf Day, held at Mid Sussex Golf Club.

Now in its forth year, the annual event raised money for Young Epilepsy.

The main sponsors of the event were Spencer and Leigh Estate Agents, and Mid Sussex Golf club donated prizes for the raffle.

The format was, for the second year, the enjoyable ‘Texas Scramble’ format, where all golfers, regardless of ability, get the opportunity to post a score under par.

The teams were made up of staff and friends of Shoreham College and ‘Old Shorehamers’.

In third place, with a net score of 62, was Dan Sykes, partnered by Jack and Rob Harper.

The family team of Alfie, Tom and Steve Wedge took second place, with a net score of 61.

Way out in front with a score of 57.9 was the team of Peter Leach, Jim Beard and Nick Roberts.

Other prizes were also awarded.

A barbecue was held when the golf had finished, and the evening ended with a fund raising raffle and auction.

John Shelley, sports coach at Shoreham College and organiser of the event, commented “My thanks to our main sponsors Spencer and Leigh, the Mid Sussex Golf Club, and others who donated prizes.”

“Thank you also to everyone who participated in the event, bought tickets and bid in the raffle”.

“My apologies go to those who had to pay out for prizes when in fact they were only scratching their face or waving a fly away; but rest assured, all monies raised were greatly received for a worthy cause.”
