FAMILIES turned out in force to see inside Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Station and take a tour of the all-weather lifeboat.

The Easter Fun Day on Saturday saw nearly 200 children tracking down clues in the traditional Easter egg hunt.

There were plenty of stalls and games to keep them occupied and the chance to step on board the RNLB Enid Collett.

Hugh Tucknott, chairman of the Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Society, said many people in the area supported the appeal for the boathouse back in 2010 so they had a sense of ownership and were very supportive of the station.

He said: “It was a very successful day from our point of view, with the total raised coming to £731 for our fundraising events, a fantastic total, plus a further £300 being spent in the shop.

“Just under 200 children took part in the Easter Egg hunt, with every entrant getting a mini-egg, and two lucky participants winning Smarties eggs.”

The next big event at the lifeboat station will be the Vintage Lifeboat Weekend on June 13 and 14, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Shoreham RNLI.
