Fun and games for all at this year's Children in Need

There will be a hype of activity for the people of Horsham later this month as the town raises cash for the BBC Children in Need appeal.

Performances, parties and Pudsey Bear will come together in a bid to raise awareness on the work of the charity.

The loved bear will be in the town on Thursday October 26, from 10am to 4pm, when Horsham Rotary Club, in conjunction with Horsham Markets, will be putting on the annual appeal party.

The party in the Carfax bandstand promises to be bigger, better and more fun filled than ever before with Pudsey Bear joined by a number of his mascot friends from 10am and who will perform three ‘sing along’ fun shows with TV’s Dave Benson Phillips on the bandstand at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

It coincides as part of a busy half term with exciting activities in the town from October 21-28.

For younger children there is the Halloween Trick or Treat Trail which runs all week with around 26 town businesses offering treats or tricks with a chance to win cash prizes from Horsham Rotary.

A Halloween party with a fancy dress competition in and around the Carfax local produce market will take place on October 28 starting around 10am

The Carfax also plays host for the second year running to the Sussex Food and Drink Awards Street Food Finals on Sunday, October 22.

Horsham district councillor Gordon Lindsay, cabinet member for the local economy, says the area will be lively for this years fundraising.

He said: “Horsham will be a fun place to be this October half term holiday with the return of lots of firm favourites such as the Trick or Treat Trail and the BBC Children in Need mascot party for younger children and the new addition of the Street Food Finals.

Children’s rides will be provided by Benson’s Funfairs, a thrilling bungee trampoline, fun and games with the WSCC Family Centre and sporting activities and games provided by the staff from the Pavilions and Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centres. There is a collection of designer shoes at Horsham Museum.

the Irregular Choice Exhibition, open every day except Sundays.

Three replica Fast and Furious cars and a number of birds of prey from Huxley’s will provide photo opportunities for people of all ages.

A Pudsey merchandise stall with face painting and art balloons will be on offer.

The charity supports children from across the UK.

Cash is poured in to a range of projects supporting youngsters less fortunate.

The charities aim is for all children to have a safe, happy and secure upbringing allowing them to reach their full potential.
