A CARE worker who has grown in his role at an Upper Beeding nursing home is celebrating winning a finalist award at the recent West Sussex Care Accolades.

Hospitality assistant Martyn Davis was quite shy when he started working at Valerie Manor, in Henfield Road, in September 2009.

Zoë Bates, owner and manager, said: “Martyn first started to work at Valerie Manor as a young worker in the role of a kitchen assistant. Martyn was quite a shy and quiet young gentleman who the staff and residents have seen grow and develop into such a caring young man who brightens up the day for everyone.”

Martyn was a finalist in the ancillary worker category, which was won by chef Tom Johns, who works at Ifield Park care home in Crawley.
