A group of residents campaigning to save Ifield Park from development (pictured) have been given a glimpse of hope that the countryside will be given some protection after Crawley Borough Council began assessments to decide what trees on the site should be given Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs).

Special permission must be granted for developers to cut down trees with TPOs. An initial assessment carried out by the council’s tree officer three weeks ago has identified 13 types of tree - most of which are more than 100 years old.
