The Webb family from Roffey recently provided the Alzheimer’s Society with over £4,000 in donations.

To celebrate Gwen Webb’s 80th birthday, a charity cricket match was organised by Gwen’s son Mick on Monday September 7 at Roffey Cricket Club between a Webb family and friends X1 verses an old Roffey X1.

Gwen’s husband Rod, a popular long serving Roffey cricketer and footballer suffered from Dementia for over fiveFamily ra years and sadly passed away on Saturday July 18 giving more significance to the events.

The day also included a grand raffle, tombola and cake sale organised by Gwen’s daughter Julie Frogley with all the prizes and cakes donated by businesses, friends and family. £1,913 was raised for Alzheimer’s from the cricket day plus a donation for Roffey young cricketers.

Rod’s granddaughter Kirsty Webb had earlier taken part in a 4 mile swim at The Pavilions on what would have been his 83rd birthday on Wednesday August 19, raising £1,070 and donations from Rod’s funeral on Tuesday, August 4 totalled £1,352.

The family would like to say a big thank you to all the people who donated prizes and cakes, plus to all those who helped on the charity day including the cricketers, umpires, scorer and tea lady.
